Plain English Summary

This article deals with situations where the money allocated for a government service is either not enough or if more money is spent than was originally approved. It provides a mechanism for requesting extra funds (supplementary or additional grants) when unforeseen needs arise or overspending occurs.

Key Points

  • It allows for supplementary or additional funds to be granted if the original allocation is insufficient for a service during the financial year.
  • If money is spent beyond the authorized amount for a service, a demand must be made to the State Legislature for that excess expenditure.
  • The rules regarding these grants apply to any laws made to authorize the spending of public money.

Why It Matters

This article ensures that government services can continue or meet unforeseen needs by providing a legal pathway to secure necessary funds, preventing service disruption due to budgetary shortfalls.
